In the latest Hinton Unleashed video, Prost Amerika columnist Alan Hinton showcased his famous white boots. He went on to review the USMNT’s recent World Cup qualifiers against Guatemala, U23’s disappointing loss to Columbia to end their Olympic hopes, USWNT’s lawsuit for increased pay and Seattle Sounders’ poor 2016 regular season start.

The starting time for each video segment is listed below.

USMNT’s Guatemala matches (2:20)

“The loss in Guatemala was a disgrace.”

The former First Division winger didn’t hold back in calling the USMNT’s 2-0 road loss to Guatemala a “disgrace.” Hinton chastised head coach Jurgen Klinsmann for his ever-changing lineup and inability to identify a set playing roster.

The U.S. rebounded by defeating Guatemala 4-0 in Columbus, Ohio. Hinton felt Klinsmann’s lineup made more sense. The team also played to their strengths by running harder and being more physical.

U23’s lose to Columbia ending Rio Olympic aspirations (4:00)

After their 1-1 draw in Columbia, the U.S. under-23’s headed back home to determine which team would play in the 2016 Olympics.

The Colombians earned a 2-1 win (3-2 in aggregate goals) in the return leg played in Frisco, Texas, and a trip to Rio de Janeiro later this summer. The U.S. last qualified for the Olympics in 2012.

According to Hinton, he agreed with ESPN broadcaster Alejandro Moreno’s criticism of the U.S. player development process. He thought the player selection methodology was to blame for the poor performances by the U.S. teams in global competitions. The best players should be picked by scouting professionals rather than by “a friend-of-a-friend.”

USWNT pay dispute lawsuit (5:20)

“Pay them the same.”

The USWNT filed an EEOC lawsuit claiming wage discrimination when compared to the USMNT. Without access to all of the financial data, Hinton agreed that if all revenues (ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, jersey sales, etc.) are equal for the men and women, the USWNT deserved equal pay.

Seattle Sounders 0-3 start (6:30)

“I expect the Sounders to turn things starting this Saturday.”

Seattle faces off against Montreal this Saturday in an attempt to end a three-match losing streak to start the season. Hinton noted two goalkeeping errors and a controversial penalty contributed to the Sounders’ disappointing performances.

He thought the team played well in each of their matches, and should return to form this weekend against the Impact.
